The South West Clinical Senate is recruiting for a Senate Support Officer. This will be a fixed term contract for 12 months.

As a Clinical Senate Support Officer, the post holder will work as part of a small dynamic team running the clinical Senate office and driving forward the South West clinical Senate’s workload as an independent clinical advice giving body, supporting commissioners and undertaking clinical reviews of large scale service change.

The post holder will support the Clinical Senate Manager and Chair to ensure that the Senate work programme is planned and managed effectively and take the lead in the successful delivery of particular work streams. This will include responsibility for the Citizens’ Assembly which ensures the patient voice is included in Senate deliberations as well as gathering data and information for Senate topics as appropriate. The role includes regular communication with senior clinicians from across the whole spectrum of healthcare provision. Excellent interpersonal, organisational and prioritisation skills will be employed on a daily basis:

  • Work closely with the Senate Manager and Clinical Chair to support the planning and delivery of clinical Senate business.
  • Support the clinical Senate business function, including developing and managing the clinical Senate business plan, progress, evaluation and reporting risk and issue management.
  • Support the preparation of Clinical Senate Councils and the annual Senate Assembly
  • Lead on organisation of particular clinical reviews to include; identifying panel members, preparing information and agreeing Terms of Reference
  • Lead in the development and effective functioning of the Citizens’ Assembly.
  • Take a lead in the coordination of training & development and recruitment activity across the Senate where required.
  • Input into the Senate Communications plan.
  • Manage all corporate business returns.

 

  • Deputise for the Senate Manager as required.
