NHS England leads the NHS in England, setting the priorities and direction of the NHS and informing the national debate to improve health and care.

We want everyone to have greater control of their health and wellbeing, and to be supported to live longer, healthier lives by high quality health and care services that are compassionate, inclusive and constantly-improving.

NHS England shares out more than £100 billion in funds and holds organisations to account for their spending. Our work involves the commissioning of health care services in England, commissioning the contracts for GPs, pharmacists, and dentists and we support local health services that are led by groups of GPs called Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs). We have devised and are delivering a strategic vision for the NHS, along with our partners in health, called the Five Year Forward View. This vision shows that we are getting serious about prevention, identifying and delivering improvements in health care, redesigning the NHS so it continues to meet the needs of patients, ensuring the NHS is financially sustainable and engaging the public in this whole process.

We strongly believe in health and high quality care for all, now and for future generations.

Please note, if the advertised role is based in London on an Agenda for Change Pay Band, it will attract a High Cost Area Supplement. If this post is an Executive or Senior Manager (ESM) role or Medical Leader position this supplement is not applicable. If you are taking up this post on a part time basis, your salary and any allowances will be adjusted pro rata.

We will not accept applications for this position by CV or via recruitment agencies.

NHS England South (South West Regional Office) is seeking to recruit an Assistant Dental Contracts Manager to work within the dental commissioning team. The post is for a fixed term of 12 months to cover the secondment of the current post-holder and will be for 34 hours per week. The post is offered on either a secondment basis or a fixed term contract for a 12 month period and will be based at NHS England offices in either, Taunton, Bristol or Chippenham.

NHS England South (South West) is responsible for the Direct Commissioning of Primary Care and Public health Services to the value of just under £800 million, representing 15% spend of the overall health budget in the South West. We work across a footprint of 3.2 million patients and 7 Clinical Commissioning Group Areas, covering populations from the Isles of Scilly and Lands’ End to Bristol.

This is an exciting and challenging time for the NHS, and the focus on commissioning high quality and efficient services for our local populations has never been in sharper focus. The dental contract team is responsible for commissioning and contracting NHS dental services for the population of the south west and this includes:

  • General dental services delivered in primary care,
  • Specialist services delivered in primary care
  • Unscheduled dental care both in and out of hours
  • Specialist dental services delivered by hospitals and teaching hospital

We wish to recruit a highly motivated, competent and enthusiastic person who will lead our commissioning team in the Bristol area and work with the dental contracts manager on the commissioning and contracting of dental services across the south west. Someone with an excellent eye for detail, has proven experience, has experience of leadership, a positive approach and is highly organised. We are keen to develop our team and as such are keen to appoint someone who is already working at this level or is looking to develop their management skills and broaden their knowledge of NHS commissioning and contracting.

Working and leading a dental team which covers a wide geographical area in a fast paced environment you should be confident, able to communicate effectively and be able to prioritise your workload effectively. You should be able to work with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior clinicians, local representative bodies, local authorities, patient and service user groups and NHS England colleagues at both local and national level. The post will be based in either Taunton, Bristol or Chippenham and will involve  travel to meetings both within and outside of the south west region as required.

Interviews for this position will be held on the 6th June 2018, at NHS England, South Plaza, Bristol.

We look forward to hearing from you.
