We commission the contracts for GPs, pharmacists, and dentists and we support local health services that are led by groups of GPs called Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs). CCGs plan and pay for local services such as hospitals and ambulance services.

Vacancy – Band 8c Quality Lead Specialised Commissioning (Acute and Mental Health)

Fixed Term/Secondment Cover until January 2019 – 0.5wte

An opportunity has arisen within the Specialised Commissioning Nursing & Quality Team (East Midlands Hub) for a 0.5wte fixed term / secondment period until January 2019, this is due to the successful secondment of the current post holder for 0.5 WTE, therefore this post will be part of a job share.


The post forms a key part of the East Midlands Specialised Commissioning leadership team as well as supporting the Midlands and East Specialised Commissioning Regional Director of Nursing. The post holder will be responsible for providing credible, clinical professional advice and expertise associated with clinical quality to influence and shape the business processes within Specialised Commissioning.


The post holder will work as part of a dynamic team to coordinate and provide professional advice regarding clinical quality and safeguarding associated with specialised clinical services within the East Midlands Specialised Hub. Key components of the role will include surveillance and monitoring of the specialised clinical services, including monitoring of Serious Untoward Incidences, Quality Dashboards, CQUIN Metrics, risk management, compliance with recommended clinical outcomes and recommendations from peer review assessments. Working alongside the Senior Service Specialists, the Quality Lead will work with Trusts to monitor and oversee the quality and performance delivery of specialised pathways, intervening where quality is not assured within a local system.


The post holder will be required to work collaboratively, across both Local and Regional teams, having responsibility for effective use of medical intelligence and influencing the quality agenda by making best use of resources within the National and Regional Teams (NHS England), the local CCGs, the Strategic Clinical Networks and the Operational Delivery Networks.  The post-holder will have a corporate responsibility, deputising for the Regional Director of Nursing in national forums, as well as the Senior Management Team, as required.
