NHS England leads the NHS in England, setting the priorities and direction of the NHS and informing the national debate to improve health and care. We strongly believe in health and high quality care for all, now and for future generations and want everyone to have greater control of their health and wellbeing, and to be supported to live longer, healthier lives by high quality health and care services that are compassionate, inclusive and constantly-improving.

NHS England shares out more than £100 billion in funds and holds organisations to account for their spending. Our work involves the commissioning of health care services in England, and we support local health services that are led by Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs). We have devised and are delivering a strategic vision for the NHS, along with our partners in health, called the Five Year Forward View.

If the advertised role is based in London on an Agenda for Change Pay Band, it will attract a High Cost Area supplement. This supplement is not applicable to Executive or Senior Manager or Medical Leader positions. For positions offered on a part time basis, salary and any allowances will be adjusted pro rata.

We will not accept applications for this position by CV or via recruitment agencies.

The Personalised Care group in NHS England is working to enable people to personalise their care and support, in order to better meet their needs and preferences and enhance their choice and control. The group is responsible for three closely linked work programmes:

Integrated Personal Commissioning: We are rolling out a new model of care for people with complex needs, in partnership with local government and the voluntary sector. This will include the introduction of person-centred approaches at scale across education, health and social care.

Personal health budgets: We have a mandate from Government to ensure that between 50,000 and 100,000 people can benefit from a personal health budget by 2020. Our team is supporting the NHS across England to achieve this.

Patient Choice: a major programme of work has been launched to achieve a radical step-up in the offer, awareness, uptake and operation of patient choice across the NHS.

These initiatives are part of a wider shift towards a health and care system based on a social model of disability- where professionals work alongside people families, and social networks to empower and enable people to be in control of their own health and care.

We are looking for passionate, visionary and high energy people to help make this happen, and who are:

  • committed to personalisation and the social model of disability
  • good at turning our values into real change
  • well-organised with a practical focus
  • able to work independently

As development support manager, you will play a leading role in coordinating the work of the team and the sites to support implementation of personalised care.
