A lot of the work we do involves the commissioning of health care services in England. We commission the contracts for GPs, pharmacists, and dentists and we support local health services that are led by groups of GPs called Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs). CCGs plan and pay for local services such as hospitals and ambulance services.

This vision shows that we are getting serious about prevention, identifying and delivering improvements in health care, redesigning the NHS so it continues to meet the needs of patients, ensuring the NHS is financially sustainable and engaging the public in this whole process.

Please note, if the advertised role is based in London on an Agenda for Change Pay Band, it will attract a High Cost Area Supplement. If this post is an Executive or Senior Manager (ESM) role or Medical Leader position this supplement is not applicable.

You have superb analytical, numerical, and modelling skills and you are commercially driven with motivation to maximise value for the NHS during large-scale commercial transactions.
Intellectual mobility and strong analytical and numerical skills are a must as well as experience in a similar role in the Pharmaceutical industry, NHS, Management Consulting, Market Research, or other similar commercial environment.

We are building a new team that will be the commercial engine of Specialised Commissioning NHS England to drive negotiations with pharma companies on market access and pricing of new high-cost drugs.
You will have a pivotal function in the design of cost-effective and alternative payment systems to maximise value from the high cost drugs budget.

You will focus on one or more of the key areas we are developing: market intelligence – building an industry financial outlook to inform our negotiations, financial modelling - to inform specific negotiations, or innovative commercial models – building a platform to invite companies to access the market differently with different incentives at a reduced price.
You will also be a team member of the negotiation team and participate in the negotiations to see the impact of your analytical work.
The role is designed to build a combination of subject matter expertise and technical skills to enable the transformation of the drugs payment system. This position will sit in the commercial directorate of the specialised commissioning of NHS England, as part of Commercial Development Analysts team.
