NHS England leads the NHS in England, setting the priorities and direction of the NHS and informing the national debate to improve health and care. We strongly believe in health and high quality care for all, now and for future generations and want everyone to have greater control of their health and wellbeing, and to be supported to live longer, healthier lives by high quality health and care services that are compassionate, inclusive and constantly-improving.

NHS England shares out more than £100 billion in funds and holds organisations to account for their spending. Our work involves the commissioning of health care services in England, and we support local health services that are led by Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs). We have devised and are delivering a strategic vision for the NHS, along with our partners in health, called the Five Year Forward View.

If the advertised role is based in London on an Agenda for Change Pay Band, it will attract a High Cost Area supplement. This supplement is not applicable to Executive or Senior Manager or Medical Leader positions. For positions offered on a part time basis, salary and any allowances will be adjusted pro rata.

We will not accept applications for this position by CV or via recruitment agencies.

NHS England’s Operations and Information Directorate is recruiting to its Commissioning Capability Programme team, to support the design and delivery of an exciting development programme for all commissioners.

The delivery of Next Steps on the NHS Five Year Forward View requires commissioning capability that can deliver better care and health outcomes at a lower cost.

NHS England is recruiting a skilled team to work with senior commissioners across the NHS and key delivery partners, to ensure commissioners have the required skills to tackle today’s and tomorrow’s challenges. The team will work with local areas and regional colleagues to co-produce and coordinate delivery of an agile and adaptive development programme to respond to the needs of local commissioners.

The commissioning capability programme will aim to help commissioners develop skills to:

(a) tackling today’s challenges, for example improving performance under the CCG IAF;

(b) deliver improvements in clinical priority areas; and

(c) prepare for the future and the delivery of Next Steps on the Five Year Forward View, in particular to support STPs and ACSs.

The program is aligned with existing support packages for Sustainability and STPs, clinical priority areas, and also the emerging support for those organisations progressing towards becoming an ICS.

This is an exciting opportunity for anybody interested in the transforming commissioning landscape, OD and change management, and improving overall service delivery in the NHS.
