NHS England leads the NHS in England, setting the priorities and direction of the NHS and informing the national debate to improve health and care. We strongly believe in health and high quality care for all, now and for future generations and want everyone to have greater control of their health and wellbeing, and to be supported to live longer, healthier lives by high quality health and care services that are compassionate, inclusive and constantly-improving.

NHS England shares out more than £100 billion in funds and holds organisations to account for their spending. Our work involves the commissioning of health care services in England, and we support local health services that are led by Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs). We have devised and are delivering a strategic vision for the NHS, along with our partners in health, called the Five Year Forward View.

If the advertised role is based in London on an Agenda for Change Pay Band, it will attract a High Cost Area supplement. This supplement is not applicable to Executive or Senior Manager or Medical Leader positions. For positions offered on a part time basis, salary and any allowances will be adjusted pro rata.

We will not accept applications for this position by CV or via recruitment agencies.

Would you like to be part of a dynamic Team dedicated to transforming cancer services across the West Midlands?  Are you an experienced Business Administrator looking for a new challenge?

The Cancer Taskforce Report ‘Achieving World Class Cancer Outcomes: A Strategy for the NHS 2015 - 2020’ was published in July 2015. The taskforce strategy outlined 96 recommendations, including the establishment of Cancer Alliances.  Cancer Alliances put Clinical Leaders across primary, secondary and tertiary care in the driving seat for improving cancer patient’s outcomes both in terms of survival and experience of care. This extends from prevention strategies, through screening and early diagnosis, delivery of evidence based treatment, living with and beyond cancer, palliative and supportive care to end of life.

The West Midlands Cancer Alliance Board provides strategic leadership to ensure successful planning and delivery of Cancer Taskforce priorities across our 6 Sustainability and Transformation Partnership (STPs) members. The Cancer Alliance owns the delivery of the cancer-specific elements of the STP and the more detailed Alliance plans.  The Cancer Alliance Team is responsible for delivering the Cancer Alliance Delivery Plan and the implementation and effective delivery of the nationally funded cancer transformation

The West Midlands Cancer Alliance is looking for an experienced Administrator with the ability to work with people at all levels, together with good organisational and communication skills, both verbal and written. The post holder should have the ability to use their own initiative but also be Team orientated and have a flexible approach to work, covering for colleagues where possible in their absence.

The focus will be to provide administrative and secretarial services, including for example, the preparation of agendas and minutes, taking appropriate follow up action as required, including minute taking. The post holder will support the Team with the administrative management of projects; booking external and internal venues for meetings and events and gather information and undertake enquiries as and when is necessary.

It is essential to have good time management skills and have the ability to organise and prioritise work along with a reasonable understanding of the NHS agenda.

The post will be office based at Wildwood, Worcester; although there will be some travel involved throughout the Alliance area to provide support to programme boards and other service related meetings.

Please refer to the job description/person specification enclosed. If you have the requisite skills and experience we welcome your application.

If you are considering a secondment please ensure permission is granted from your Line Manager before applying.
